Indiana pauses football workouts after positive COVID-19 tests

On Friday, the Indiana Hoosiers temporarily suspended all football workouts after six individuals within the program tested positive for the coronavirus.

As ESPN's Tom VanHaaren wrote, this pause affects only the football program. Ben Kercheval of CBS Sports added those who tested positive are quarantining until further notice, and that it's unknown if any of the individuals required hospitalization.

No resumption date for workouts was announced on Friday.

Student-athletes first returned to Indiana for voluntary workouts on June 15. Previously, the university reported that four of 300 tests within the athletic department returned positive results.

The Big Ten remains committed to completing a conference-only schedule amid the worsening pandemic. This decision led to Indiana's football program canceling a Sept. 12 game against Western Kentucky, a Sept. 19 contest versus Ball State, and a Sept. 26 showdown with Connecticut.
