Penn State football is looking to get back in the win column today after suffering its first loss of the season last week. Although heavy favorites against the Indiana Hoosiers, the Nittany Lions may be without one of its biggest names this afternoon. Star Penn State football defender Chop Robinson left the Ohio State game after suffering an injury, as did fellow DE Amin Vanover.

Will either of these Nittany Lions be back against Indiana? The Week 9 injury report just released by Penn State tells us what to expect.

Penn State football releases injury report ahead of Indiana game

New in 2023, the Big Ten mandates each team submit an injury report for release two hours before kickoff each week. Below are the Penn State football players listed for this week’s matchup with Indiana:

Chop Robinson – OUT

Andrew Rappleyea – OUT

Elliot Washington – OUT

Amin Vanover – QUESTIONABLE

James Franklin provides mid-week injury update

The Nittany Lions football program is tight-lipped regarding injuries, and this week was no different. However, given the high-profile nature of injuries coming out of the Ohio State game, James Franklin did have to address the issue this week.

While little information was known regarding the injury to Chop Robinson immediately after last week’s game, Franklin did have a positive update on Tuesday during his weekly press conference.

“As from what I understand and from what I see, and from what I know, I don’t see this being a long-term issue,” Franklin said of the star Penn State football defender. “But you never know when it comes to medical. But hopefully, we’ll be getting Chop back here soon. As you guys know, I’m pretty open when it’s a season-ending injury. I don’t see that.”

When asked again on Wednesday following practice, Franklin said Penn State hopes to have Robinson back “sooner rather than later.” Franklin also noted that Amin Vanover would be a game-time decision. Neither Nittany Lion defender was seen at practice on Wednesday evening.
