Jim Harbaugh has 'real' interest in returning to NFL?

Current Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh guided the program to a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance for the 2021 season and previously took the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl while going 44-19-1, overall, with the franchise.

Perhaps Harbaugh believes he's hit a figurative ceiling with Michigan.

The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reports Harbaugh could be interested in leaving Michigan to return to the NFL.

"I think it’s real," one source told Feldman about Harbaugh's alleged desire to maybe accept a job with an NFL team such as the Las Vegas Raiders or Chicago Bears.

Former Raiders coach Jon Gruden resigned during the fall after it was learned he reportedly used racist, homophobic and misogynistic language in emails sent throughout the 2010s, and interim coach Rich Bisaccia has Las Vegas in the playoff hunt heading into Week 18. However, Feldman explained that Harbaugh is friends with Raiders owner Mark Davis, worked as an assistant with the franchise in the early 2000s and could be tempted to coach quarterback Derek Carr.

The Bears, meanwhile, might part ways with coach Matt Nagy on "Black Monday" after the upcoming weekend and have promising rookie Justin Fields as their signal-caller moving forward.

Under Harbaugh, the Wolverines fell to the Georgia Bulldogs 34-11 in the CFP semifinal this past Friday night.
