Michigan defeated Ohio State 42-27 on Saturday afternoon.

In doing so, the Wolverines ended an eight-game losing streak to their hated rivals and improved to 11-1 on the year. Considering how often they’ve been robbed by officials in 2021, this one no doubt felt good.

Running back Hassan Haskins was obviously Michigan’s biggest star on the day, recording five touchdowns in the winning effort. Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson recording three sacks was also immensely impressive.

But nothing will stand out from Saturday’s showing by the Wolverines quite like the 12-word dagger that head coach Jim Harbaugh launched at Ohio State head coach Ryan Day after the fact.

When pressed on all the trash talk that his program had endured from the Buckeyes over the years, Harbaugh kept it brief.

“Some people were born on third and think they hit a triple,” he said rather bluntly.

For obvious reasons, most are interpreting Harbaugh’s comment as a shot at Day – who clearly inherited an incredibly successful program from Urban Meyer.

Day, for what it’s worth, took an extremely somber tone postgame. When asked how he felt about this loss, he also kept it rather short and sweet.

Somehow, a year during which a player literally quit the team midgame somehow got even worse for Ohio State.

In a college football season marred by an SEC reporter being blasted for her overly “revealing” wardrobe and clear bullying of team staff, it’s great to see Harbaugh finally get this monkey off his back.

Next up for Michigan: a trek to Indianapolis for the opportunity to win a conference title and lock down a College Football Playoff spot.

If the Wolverines win it all this year, it would be the program’s first national championship since 1997.
