Kansas enters AP Top 25 for first time since 2009 at No. 19

The Kansas Jayhawks won twice on Saturday, notching a 14-11 win over Iowa State and later learning that ESPN's College Gameday was coming to campus for next week's matchup against undefeated TCU. Sunday should bring another win for the program.

Kansas is almost certain to land in the AP Top 25 rankings for the first time since 2009. The Jayhawks barely missed the rankings last week, finishing 26th in voting, and a handful of teams in front of them are at risk of dropping out this week.

Of all schools ranked between 15 and 25 in last week's AP Poll, seven of them lost this weekend: Washington, Baylor, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida State, and Pittsburgh.

Not only are the Jayhawks poised enter the rankings, but they have a chance to land a few spots above the cutoff.

Kansas was ranked as high as No. 16 in 2009, a season that started promising at 5-0 but ended with seven consecutive losses and the firing of coach Mark Mangino. Since that point, the Jayhawks haven't won more than three games in any season — until now.

Led by junior quarterback Jalon Daniels, Kansas is one of 14 remaining undefeated Power Five teams entering Week 6.
