Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden released from hospital after bout with COVID-19

Legendary former Florida State Seminoles head coach Bobby Bowden, widely revered as one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football, has been released from the hospital less than two weeks after he told ESPN he tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Bowden family friend Kim Shiff confirmed that the two-time national champion coach was back resting at home.

Bowden had previously spent time in the hospital because of an infection in his leg. He has said that he believes he contracted the virus while receiving treatment.

"I don't have much energy," Bowden told ESPN before his latest hospitalization. "Other than that, nothing else has changed."

Along with a pair of national titles, Bowden guided Florida State to 12 Atlantic Coast Conference championships during a tenure that spanned from 1976 through the 2009 season. He retired with a career record of 357-124-4 and, per Sports-Reference, is behind only former Penn State Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno in career victories at the collegiate level.

Bowden joins a list that includes Alabama's Nick Saban, Kansas' Les Miles, Arizona's Kevin Sumlin, Florida State's Mike Norvell, Arkansas State's Blake Anderson, and Toldeo's Jason Candle among noteworthy coaches who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the United States.

"I am sure (God) answered a prayer," Bowden told the Tallahassee Democrat earlier in the week.

"I do feel better. I am doing good. I appreciate everyone's thoughts, I really do."
