Just a day after the Liberty Flames fell to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl, starting quarterback Kaidon Salter will be entering the transfer portal, per 247Sports. Salter will have two years of eligibility remaining.

In 2023, the now-former Flames quarterback threw for 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. Salter led the Flames to an undefeated regular season, a Conference USA championship and a New Year's Six Bowl appearance.

Salter now becomes one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal with K.J. Jefferson committing to UCF and Cam Ward declaring for the draft. Although USC's Malachi Nelson is still out there, Salter provides experience as a starter.

Along with his great arm strength, Salter was second on the team in rushing yards with 1,186 and 12 rushing touchdowns. Salter was third amongst the conference in total yards, second in rushing yards, first in pass efficiency and fourth in passing yards. Salter was third amongst all quarterbacks in FBS this season.

This season, Salter was named the Conference USA MVP and was named to the first team All-Conference this season. Along with his conference accolades in 2023, he was named Hero Sports player of the year and

Salter should receive plenty of interest in the Power Five landscape. Miami still needs a quarterback after missing out on KJ Jefferson and Cam Ward. Although, they are reportedly interested in Malachi Nelson.
