After extending an offer to talented transfer portal defensive line target Jay’viar Suggs just a few days ago, LSU football is now set to host the Division II defender for his final visit over the next couple of days.

LSU football set to host primary defensive line target today for his final visit

It’s been a long and slightly underwhelming spring transfer portal season for coach Brian Kelly and LSU football, but some good news might finally be on the horizon. At least, for now it appears to be trending that way.

The Tigers first extended an offer to former Grand Valley State standout defensive lineman Jay’viar Suggs on May 9, 2024, and things have only trended in a positive direction since.

One day following his offer, he elected to update his list of top schools to include the purple and gold, and now, just a few days later, he’s on campus in Baton Rouge for the final visit of his recruitment.

Rated as a three-star transfer, as well as the No. 2 available defensive line target in the country, according to 247Sports, Suggs has the potential to surprise plenty of fans throughout the country if given the opportunity.

Coming out of the Division II ranks, it’s hard to know exactly how well his 6-foot-3, 282-pound frame will translate to the FBS, but with him having recorded 42 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, nine pass deflections and two forced fumbles over the last two seasons, he certainly has the ability to be an impact player. Furthermore, entering his fifth season of college football, experience isn’t a concern.

Along with today’s trip to Baton Rouge, Suggs has taken visits to Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, and USC and has a current top-four consisting of LSU, Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Michigan-based defender will have two years of eligibility remaining and can be expected to have a final decision made up fairly soon following his current trip to the Boot.
