As the summer months are ramping up, so is the recruiting trail for Brian Kelly. Kelly continues LSU’s success on the recruiting trail with the sixth commitment of the last week for the Bayou Bengals. Jeremiah Hughes, a three-star- cornerback from Las Vegas announced his commitment to LSU. Hughes chose the the Tigers over Washington, Utah, and Arkansas
“It’s DBU, ” Hughes said. “It’s the biggest stage to play on. If you’re really a guy, that’s where you go to play.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Hughes, becomes the 12th commit to join the 2023 class. According to 247sports, Hughes is rated as the No. 7 overall player in the state of Nevada. He is a two-way player with experience at receiver and in the secondary. Hughes capped off his junior season at Bishop Gorman with 13 tackles and two pass breakups. On the offensive side, he caught four passes for 103 yards and a touchdown.
The announcement came after a blazing weekend for LSU on the recruiting trail as Hughes is the sixth commitment in seven days for the Tigers. Hughes joins fellow commits on the defensive side: Dashawn Womack, Darron Reed, edge Jaxon Howard, Joshua Mickens, and corner Ashton Stamps. The Tigers will look to continue to develop their 2023 class as 5-star LSU quarterback target Dante Moore is set to announce his decision on Friday.
