Miami Hurricanes COVID-19 outbreak leads to multiple ACC schedule changes

The Miami Hurricanes football program is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak that has led to the Atlantic Coast Conference changing a handful of league games.

As Andrea Adelson noted for ESPN, the Hurricanes defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 25-24 on Saturday despite being without 13 players because of coronavirus-related issues. However, the ACC confirmed on Monday that additional testing and subsequent quarantines are sidelining Miami through the end of the month.

This decision led to the rescheduling of multiple contests.

Wake Forest-Louisville was moved from Dec. 5 to Nov. 28.

Miami-Wake Forest is changed from Nov. 28 to Dec. 5.

Western Carolina-North Carolina goes from Dec. 11 to Dec. 5.

Louisville-Boston College moves from Nov. 27 to Dec. 12.

North Carolina at Miami, originally scheduled for Dec. 5, will also occur on Dec. 12.

This Saturday's Georgia Tech-Miami showdown is now tentatively scheduled for Dec. 19 but only if the Hurricanes aren't eligible to play in the ACC Football Championship Game that same day and if the result of that contest doesn't impact the schools competing in the title game.

Miami, ranked No. 12 after the win over Virginia Tech, is currently third in the ACC standings behind both Notre Dame and Clemson. Clemson crushed Miami 42-17 on Oct. 10.
