A number of Michigan State football players reaffirmed their loyalty on social media amid the recent transfer portal madness.

What a week it’s been in East Lansing. Over a dozen Michigan State football players have entered the portal (not even counting them, just putting a rough estimate out there) since the spring transfer window opened.

We’ve seen a lot of guys buried on the depth chart leave but also players like Derrick Harmon, Simeon Barrow, Jalen Berger, Antonio Gates Jr., Bai Jobe, and Andrew Depaepe. While some of those guys weren’t in line to play a ton this year, all seemingly had bright futures. Unfortunately, those futures will be sought out elsewhere.

Michigan State has lost over 30 players total to the transfer portal this offseason which makes some fans question if it’s even worth it to follow the roster from season to season. This era of NIL and the transfer portal has made roster turnover drastic.

It’s hard to root for guys when they could be gone less than a semester after they get to campus.

But a handful of Michigan State football players took to X to calm the nerves of fans, reaffirming the fact that they’re locked in with the Spartans.

There will likely be more guys sharing this same sentiment in the coming weeks as they show that they’re locked in with Jonathan Smith and Michigan State this season. It’s great to see these guys reaffirming their commitment to the program and loyalty.

A number of other players have posted about having “great” springs with Michigan State and that they’re looking forward to the upcoming season. It’s good to see that not everyone is looking for a bigger NIL deal elsewhere.

In today’s day and age, it’s going to be tough to keep star players satisfied when there will be better offers out there (Derrick Harmon is a prime example) but Smith is doing everything he can.
