Ohio State QB Jack Miller reinstated after OVI charge is reduced

The No. 4-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes sit at 9-1 on the season ahead of Saturday's pivotal home game against the No. 7-ranked Michigan State Spartans and could have a certain backup quarterback available for that contest, just in case, as they attempt to qualify for the College Football Playoff.

According to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN, Ohio State has reinstated reserve redshirt freshman quarterback Jack Miller. Miller was suspended earlier this month after he was pulled over for driving in marked lanes and later accused of operating a vehicle while impaired after he refused a Breathalyzer test, but that charge has since been reduced.

Per Columbus television station WSYX, Miller pleaded down to reckless operation, accepted four points added to his driving record and agreed to pay a $150 fine plus court costs.

"Ohio State University student-athlete Jack Miller has been reinstated to the Ohio State football team," the school said in an official statement. "The charge issued against him of operating a vehicle while impaired has been reduced to a minor misdemeanor traffic offense. Miller has fulfilled all of the obligations required of him and the legal case is now closed."

Thus far, Miller has appeared in four games this season and has completed 7-of-14 passes for 101 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He dressed for the victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions on Oct. 30 before his suspension, and his status on the active roster is unclear heading into the weekend.
