Purdue WR Rondale Moore opts out of college football season
Purdue star wide receiver Rondale Moore has opted out of 2020 college football season scheduled to be held amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed on Thursday:
As noted by Sports Illustrated's JD Arland, Moore missed the majority of the 2019 campaign due to a hamstring injury that never fully healed. The previous year, the 20-year-old was a revelation for the Purdue offense, as he accumulated 114 catches, 1,258 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns.
Per Travis Miller of Hammer and Rails, Moore earned CBS Freshman of the Year honors and First-Team All-America nods from CBS Sports, the Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America and ESPN. He was later named a consensus All-American.
Ryan Wilson, Chris Trapasso and Josh Edwards of CBS Sports all named Moore as a first-round pick in NFL mock drafts updated on June 22.
Earlier in the day, Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons and Miami defensive end Gregory Rousseau opted out.
