The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have already interviewed Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their vacant offensive coordinator position, have reportedly interviewed another candidate with ties to Georgia.

Per the official Buccaneers website , the team interviewed current Rams assistant head coach and tight ends coach Thomas Brown.

Brown was a four-year starter at running back at Georgia from 2004 through 2007. Known for his physical strength and bowling ball-style running, Brown amassed 3,018 yards from scrimmage and scored 26 touchdowns in his career. He was named to the Freshman All-SEC Team in 2004.

After Georgia, Brown was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 6th round of the NFL Draft and spent three years in the league. He returned to Georgia twice as a coach; in 2011 as a strength and conditioning coach, and in 2015 as the running backs coach.

Brown made the jump to the NFL following stints as the offensive coordinator at Miami and the running backs coach at South Carolina. He joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 as their running backs coach, and was promoted to assistant head coach the next season.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has spoken glowingly about Brown’s abilities as a coach.

"He's got such a unique, educated and impressive thought process as it relates to a lot of things outside of football," said McVay. "That's why he's also the assistant head coach. I heavily lean on him with some things where he runs some leadership group meetings. He has a great pulse for the team."

With Brown’s help, and the play of former Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2022.

Todd Monken and Thomas Brown represent two out of the eight candidates the Buccaneers have interviewed since the team fired former OC Byron Leftwich. The others include Klint Kubiak, Keenan McCardell, Jim Bob Cooter, Dan Pitcher, Shea Tierney, and Ronald Curry.
