Report: Up to five Alabama football players tested positive for COVID-19

On Thursday, the Bama Insider staff reported that up to five Alabama Crimson Tide football players tested positive for COVID-19 upon their returns to campus for voluntary workouts.

Player identities were kept anonymous to respect their privacy.

Last month, the NCAA announced college football and basketball players would be welcomed back to schools for workouts at the beginning of June. The SEC is allowing workouts to commence on Monday, June 8.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has campaigned via a public service announcement for Alabama fans and residents to wear masks while in public.

"All of us want to make sure we play football this fall," Saban says during the spot, "and to make that happen, we must be sure we stay at home if we have symptoms, wash your hands often, follow social-distancing guidelines, and please wear a mask any time you're around other people."

Per Bama Insider, Tuscaloosa County has reported 383 COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days.
