SEC announces No. 6 Alabama, No. 18 LSU set for prime-time showdown

There’s nothing like a Saturday night at Death Valley, and that’s exactly what college football fans will get when No. 6 Alabama and No. 18 LSU meet two Saturdays from now.

It’s been a while since Alabama (7-1, 4-1 in SEC) and LSU (6-2, 4-1 in SEC) met in Baton Rouge with anything significant on the line. When the two meet on Nov. 5, it will be the first time they have met as ranked teams at Tiger Stadium since 2018. The winner will be in the driver's seat to make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.

LSU hasn't won a home game in this series since 2010, and their last primetime home win against Alabama was in 2006. The Tigers have lost five in a row to the Crimson Tide at home and have scored 47 points combined. Alabama scored 55 points during its last visit to Death Valley.

LSU has won their past five home night games, but only two have been against SEC competition. This will be the first night home game against a ranked opponent since LSU defeated then-No. 15 Texas A&M on Nov. 27, 2021.

Per a report from LSU Sports in 2018, since 1960, LSU is 231-61-4 at Tiger Stadium at night compared to 29-26-3 during the day. The time of kickoff has literally been a night and day difference for LSU's performance.

They say Death Valley is a place where opponents' dreams go to die. On Monday, LSU's dream of hosting a night game came true.
