November began with a bang, as top 10 upsets and tight top 25 showdowns defined the day of college football action. Here are Week 10's winners and losers. Winner: Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning The 2023 five-star recruit silenced doubters — at least for one week — with his best game of the season in a 34-31 win over Associated Press No. 9 Vanderbilt (7-2, 3-2 in SEC). Manning was 25-of-33 for 328 yards and three touchdowns, doing most of his damage in the first two quarters as No. 20 Texas (7-2, 4-1 in SEC) built a 24-10 halftime lead. Manning is averaging 337 passing yards per game over his past two games heading into a massive showdown with No. 5 Georgia (7-1, 5-1 in SEC) in Week 12. After a disappointing start to the season, Manning has found a rhythm in time to revitalize Texas's conference title and national championship hopes. Loser: Miami Hurricanes Saturday's 26-20 overtime loss at SMU (6-3, 4-1 in ACC) was No. 10 Miami's ninth in November under fourth-year head coach Mario Cristobal. It also dented the Hurricanes' College Football Playoff hopes, leaving their fate out of their control with four games left in the regular season. With Clemson and Florida State out of the conference title race, Miami (6-2, 2-2 in ACC) had an excellent opportunity this season to assert itself as the ACC's best. Instead, it's decidedly mediocre. Winner: Indiana Hoosiers running backs The Hoosiers juggernaut rolled on in Week 10 with a 55-10 road thumping of Maryland (4-4, 1-4 in Big Ten). The run game led the blowout effort, with Indiana gaining a season-high 367 yards on the ground. Senior running backs Kaelon Black and Roman Hemby and freshman Khobie Martin combined for 278 yards on 43 carries (6.5 yards per attempt) and had seven of the team's nine big rush plays (gains of 10 yards or more). Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has earned a lot of the attention for Indiana's hot start, but the Hoosiers have ascended the college football ranks by being a complete team. With a deep, explosive rushing attack reminded once again why it's among the country's most formidable teams. Loser: Arkansas Razorbacks Cheer up, Razorbacks fans. Arkansas basketball returns on Monday. Because the 2025 football season can't end soon enough. Arkansas blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead in a battle of SEC programs seeking their first conference win, losing to Mississippi State, 38-35, after giving up the winning 18-yard touchdown on a 4th-and-4 conversion with 48 seconds remaining. Mississippi State had to snap its SEC losing streak, which stood at 16 games entering Week 10, at some point, but hasn't Arkansas suffered enough? The Razorbacks have lost five games by six points or less. Barring an upset in one of their last three games, Arkansas will go winless in conference play for the fourth time in 34 seasons as an SEC member, all since 2013. Winner: Ohio State Buckeyes wide receivers Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has become the betting favorite for the Heisman, although maybe his outstanding pair of wide receivers should split the award instead. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate both had huge games in a 38-14 win over Penn State (3-5, 0-5 in Big Ten). Smith had six receptions, 123 yards and two touchdowns, while Tate contributed five receptions, 124 yards and a touchdown. Loser: Tennessee Volunteers QB Joey Aguilar No. 14 Tennessee (6-3, 3-3 in SEC) fell out of the College Football Playoff picture with a 33-27 home loss to No. 18 Oklahoma (7-2, 3-2 in SEC). Miscues from Aguilar contributed to the defeat. Despite throwing for 393 yards and three touchdowns, the Appalachian State transfer also threw two interceptions, the first ending a promising Tennessee drive in Oklahoma territory and the second leading to an Oklahoma field goal right before halftime. He also lost 30 yards on four sacks. Aguilar had a tough assignment taking over for Nico Iamaleava after he unexpectedly left the program over an NIL dispute in April, following a 2024 CFP run. While he's had his share of success this season, Aguilar has ultimately been inconsistent enough to keep Tennessee from reaching the same heights in consecutive years. Winner: Arizona State Sun Devils QB Jeff Sims Sims has lived many lives since starting all 10 games as a true freshman at Georgia Tech, although few could be described as good. The sixth-year senior had a disastrous run at Nebraska in 2023 before arriving at Arizona State last season, where he backed up Michigan State transfer Sam Leavitt. Following Leavitt's season-ending injury, Sims got another opportunity to start and kept the Sun Devils alive for consecutive Big 12 championships with a 24-19 win in a rematch of last year's title game. Sims accounted for 405 total yards, including 228 rushing yards, the most by a quarterback in program history. Arizona State has a favorable schedule over its last three games, and while a lot would have to go its way to make it back to Dallas for the second year in a row, stranger things have happened, like Sims saving the Sun Devils' season with an unreal Week 10 performance. Loser: Colorado Buffaloes Despite going 9-4 last season — the program's best record since 2016 — it was fair to wonder how sustainable Colorado's success was with quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman-winning cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter going pro. The answer? It wasn't. The Buffaloes looked as bad as before head coach Deion Sanders arrived to much fanfare in 2023 on Saturday, losing to Arizona (5-3, 2-3 in Big 12), 52-17. Colorado (3-6, 1-5 in Big 12) was undisciplined, committing 14 penalties for 110 yards while also turning the ball over five times, leading to 21 points. It also provided no resistance, with Arizona reaching the end zone on seven of its first 10 possessions, including three sub-two-minute 75-yard touchdown drives. Winner: Disney College football fans with YouTube TV were left scrambling for access to the week's biggest games on Disney-owned channels, including ABC, ESPN and SEC Network (among others), after a carrier dispute took those networks off the television streaming app. The saga was a boon for Fubo, which was the most downloaded entertainment app on Apple's App Store as of early Saturday evening. How does that help Disney? On Oct. 29, one day before its channels were removed from YouTube TV, it finalized a 70 percent acquisition of Fubo, per Deadline. Soon enough, "The Happiest Place on Earth" will also be the only.
Happy 37th birthday to three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and 2012 PFWA Most Improved Player award winner, Dez Bryant! The Oklahoma State product played in nine NFL seasons, eight of which were with the Dallas Cowboys. In his time with Big D he caught 531 passes for 7,506 yards and a franchise-record 73 touchdowns. He also served as an important bridge for Dallas in the Tony Romo-Dak Prescott transition, catching 50 passes for 796 yards and eight scores in Prescott’s 2016 rookie campaign. His time in Dallas ended with an achilles injury in 2017, but he did catch on for six games with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 before hanging up his cleats. Which brings us to today’s quiz. Jon Machota of The Athletic reports the Cowboys are activating C Cooper Beebe off the injured reserve. Machota adds the Cowboys are placing LB Jack Sanborn on injured reserve and signing RB Malik Davis to the practice squad. Dallas is also elevating DB Zion Childress and TE Princeton Fant from the practice squad to the active roster for Week 9 against the Cardinals. Beebe, 24, was a third-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. He signed a four-year, $5.9 million rookie deal through 2027 and is set to make a base salary of $1,064,987 in 2025. In 2025, Beebe has appeared in two games for the Cowboys and made two starts at center.
The Philadelphia Eagles are already Super Bowl contenders, but that's not stopping general manager Howie Roseman from bolstering his roster before the trade deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. On Monday, the Miami Dolphins sent linebacker Jaelan Phillips to the Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick (via ESPN's Adam Schefter). It's the third defensive trade Roseman and company have made in the past week. They already improved their secondary by acquiring cornerback Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens and CB Michael Carter II from the New York Jets. How Jaelan Phillips trade benefits Eagles Trading for 26-year-old Phillips should help the Eagles (6-2) solve one of their bigger defensive problems: the ability to generate pressure consistently. Per Pro Football Reference, Philadelphia is tied for 19th in the NFL in pressure rate (19 percent). It also has 16 sacks, tied with the Las Vegas Raiders (2-6) for 23rd in the league. Phillips had just three sacks through his first nine games with Miami, but he's still a quality pass-rusher. Pro Football Reference has credited him with 18 pressures this season, tied with Denver Broncos LB Nik Bonitto and Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt for the 12th most in the league. That's great company for Phillips to be in. Both of those star defenders are Defensive Player of the Year candidates. As of Monday, DraftKings Sportsbook gives Bonitto +850 odds to win the award and Watt +3500 odds to capture it. Star Philadelphia LB Nolan Smith Jr. is expected to return from a triceps injury in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers. He last played in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams. His return and the Phillips trade may now put the Eagles defense — which ranks 19th in the league in points allowed (23.1) — in a position to hit its stride. Even if their team is winning, top GMs, like two-time Super Bowl champion Roseman, continue to find ways to strengthen their clubs. He's likely done that again by landing Phillips.
