Xavier Weaver elected not to participate in any drills at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday. However, he did meet with the media and answered an array of questions about his future in the league to his time with Coach Prime in Boulder. The former Buffs receiver plans to perform at Colorado’s Pro Day later this month.
Here are the best seven questions from Weaver's Q & A session.
What about the future of Colorado football?
I feel real proud about them this year. Definitely going to see this year. Last year we didn’t get to show you exactly what we wanted. But this year for sure. We’re definitely on the uprise…Coach Prime, that’s all I can say. He knows what he’s doing and he’s good at what he does.
What about the transition to Colorado from South Florida?
It was amazing. I came in there right away and got straight to it with the quarterbacks. So, it was blessing and everything I could ask for. I got to be on the big stage. Without CU, I probably wouldn’t be here right now.
What’s something people don’t know about Coach Prime?
Obviously, you guys know a lot because a lot of stuff is being filmed. But he’s the same guy off camera, if you have a conversation with him. At the end of the day, he’s a legend.
If Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders was in the draft, where would he be picked?
He definitely would be a first-round for sure. You’ll see it next year.
How much did your move pay off going to Colorado for a year?
It definitely paid off a lot. I feel like if I didn’t go there, I probably wouldn’t be on the stage right now, where I’m at. I showed a lot of what I can do on the big stage. I feel like it definitely was a big move for me.
What about repping guys at Colorado?
It’s a blessing. I keep saying it’s a blessing. But that’s really all I can say. I’m a little kid from Orlando, Florida. I’m not even supposed to be here, coming out of the private school I came from, so all I can say is I’ve been blessed.
Best advice you’ve gotten about the combine?
I’m just soaking everything up as I can. I’m the only one from CU out here so I got to bring a lot of things back to the guys that are coming here next year that you guys will see. So I’m soaking everything up as I can.
Weaver led the Buffs with 68 receptions for 908 yards and four touchdowns after being part of Coach Prime's initial transfer portal wave. The former USF standout ended his collegiate career with a total of 2,463 yards and 15 touchdowns in 49 games.
