Four-star high school recruit Tony Mitchell hasn’t even started his Alabama football career, and it could possibly already be over.

Last week, the Thompson High School defensive back was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and/or distribute by police in Alabaster, Ala. On Monday, details of the arrest were revealed by AL.com, and they do not paint a good picture of the Alabama football recruit and his passenger, Christopher Lewis.

It seems Mitchell’s arrest was not a simple situation of a stop and search. The police report from the arrest says the high school star attempted to evade police and was driving as fast as 141 miles per hour. His vehicle was eventually found and stopped.

Mitchell admitted to purposefully fleeing authorities after Lewis told him to “punch it.” Inside the vehicle, police discovered over $7,000 in cash and 226 grams of marijuana.

Lewis was also charged with possession and intent to sell and distribute, and he incurred an added charge after it was discovered that he had a loaded gun with him in the car.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban suspended the star high school recruit on Monday.

“Everybody’s got an opportunity to make choices and decisions. There’s no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” the legendary coach said following the suspension.

Mitchell committed to the Alabama football program in June 2022 after being heavily recruited by rival schools like Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M. He signed his letter of intent with the university this past December.
