Wednesday morning, TCU head football coach Sonny Dykes met with the media at the conclusion of fall camp. Wednesday's practice was the first in Amon G. Carter Stadium and was mainly a walk-through. He said TCU will start installing their game plan for the day during practices on Thursday and Friday. This will give them a week to fine-tune the game plan and figure out what their main offensive threat will be. TCU kicks off their season on September 2 at 11 a.m. against Colorado,  in what will be a can't-miss game with Deion Sanders' Division 1 debut.

Dykes talked about the challenges of playing the first game of the season against a new coaching staff and a team consisting of many transfers. With so many variables, Dykes feels there is more to try and game plan. In addition, having a new offensive coordinator for the Frogs also changes the game plan, especially when compared to last season.

Emani Bailey seems to have solidified his role as the number one back, but there will be rotating happening for fresh legs. Dykes mentioned that Trey Sanders has been eased in due to a lingering hamstring issue from the summer but is a full go for now.

Dykes' Thoughts on the Cancellation of the TCU-SMU Rivalry

Coach Dykes was asked about his thoughts on the SMU-TCU rivalry being discontinued. He said that if TCU wants to be one of the big boys in college football, they need to start acting like them, which includes scheduling. He then mentioned that you never see a program such as Michigan or Alabama with less than seven home games or even scheduling an away game at a Group of 5 team. While he thought that the rivalry was necessary, he stressed that TCU must keep growing as a program and doing what is best for the team.

TCU kicks off the football season at home in Amon G. Carter Stadium against Colorado at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 2nd.
