TCU QB Max Duggan announces he will declare for 2023 NFL Draft

TCU quarterback Max Duggan is headed to the NFL.

Duggan made the announcement on social media on Sunday, announcing his intention to declare for the 2023 class at the conclusion of the college football playoff.

Duggan, a senior, still had a year of NCAA eligibility remaining but opted to pass on that for an opportunity to play in the NFL.

The 2022 season was a huge year for Duggan on both a team and individual level.

Not only did he helped lead the Horned Frogs to a 12-1 record and a spot in the College Football Playoff, but he was also one of the top quarterbacks in the country.

He finished the year 3,321 passing yards, 30 touchdown passes, and only four interceptions. That performance was enough to earn him the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's top quarterback, as well as the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He was also one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

The 2023 draft class has several first round quarterback options with Bryce Young (Alabama), C.J. Stroud (Ohio State), Will Levis (Kentucky), and Anthony Richardson (Florida) all looking like potential early picks.

Duggan does not figure to be on that level, but due to his production, competitiveness, and toughness he figures to get picked somewhere and get a real chance in the NFL.

How he plays in the College Playoff might help his stock. TCU will play in the Fiesta Bowl against No. 2 Michigan, one of the top defensive teams in the country on Dec. 31 with a spot in the National Championship game at stake.
