The Marshall Thundering Herd have landed a veteran QB to help their offense along in what will be a critical 2024 campaign.

Wake Forest quarterback Mitch Griffis announced his upcoming move to Huntington on Friday afternoon. Griffis will be a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining after four years with the Demon Deacons. He'll graduate from Wake Forest in May.

Marshall's 2023 starting quarterback Cam Fancher is currently in the portal and has not announced a new destination as of the publish date of this article.

In 2023, Griffis played in nine games for Wake Forest and spent the year as their primary starter. He missed some time with an undisclosed injury and threw nine touchdowns with seven interceptions. The Demon Deacons ended the season on a five-game losing streak, bringing their record to 4-8.

In four seasons in Winston-Salem, Griffis threw for 1957 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

A native of Ashburn, Virginia, Griffis was a three-star prospect coming out of high school.

The Marshall offense threw 17 interceptions with just 12 touchdowns in 2023. The Herd averaged 5.3 yards per play in 2023, the third-fewest in the Sun Belt.
