To close out spring football practice, the University of Washington had Michael Penix Jr. quarterbacking the ones, former starter Dylan Morris behind center with the second unit, JC transfer Alex Johnson throwing a late touchdown and 2023 signal-caller signee Austin Mack watching from the sideline.

EJ Caminong, the UW's 2024 QB commit from Seattle, had to be somewhere nearby, as well.

While the Huskies appeared well stocked with current and future talent, of course they're still looking for quarterbacks.

On Tuesday, Kalen DeBoer's recruiters offered a scholarship to Demaricus Davis, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound junior from Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California and the Class of 2024.

He's a long and lean 3-star player who just beginning to spur interest from the bigger college programs following a fairly involved 15-game season for his Southern California high school.

Earlier this year, DeBoer broke it down how he prefers to stock his quarterback position.

"My philosophy would be you recruit each year," the coach said. "Try to tier it, segment one guy in each class."

If Davis, who's been compared some to Oregon State's promising freshman Aiden Chiles in his size and development, comes to the UW, he would give the Huskies a second 2024 QB alongside Caminong, who's seen his recruiting accelerate since he made an oral commitment.

For his 9-6 Eagles, Davis finished with the following passing stats of 256 completions in 413 attempts for 3,390 yards and 21 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions.

A mobile QB, he also ran 71 times for 113 net yards and scored 3 times.

Davis also holds offers from Minnesota, Oregon State, Washington State, Utah State and Nevada, with a lot more on the way.
