PITTSBURGH — The conditions weren’t great during Thursday’s practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, but by the time Solomon DeShields, Derrick Davis Jr. and Javon McIntyre stood behind the podium afterward, the sun was beginning to shine.

McIntyre and DeShields are expected to emerge as starters on the defense in 2023, and the pair broke down their growth from the spring. Davis is working his way into the running backs room after coming back home to Pittsburgh, and he touched upon back home and how he’s approached being a running back.
