Watch: Ohio State-Michigan scuffle breaks out after helmet is ripped off

The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and No. 5 Michigan Wolverines rivalry boiled over into a heated confrontation in the third quarter when Ohio State cornerback Cameron Brown ripped the helmet off Michigan receiver Roman Wilson.

The scuffle came as Michigan was threatening to add to its 21-13 lead after a run to the 1-yard line.

Several Michigan offensive lineman came to Wilson's defense, and the scuffle threatened to become a melee, but cooler heads prevailed and Big Ten officials were able to regain control.

Brown received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that moved Michigan a few inches closer to the goal line, and the Wolverines took advantage with a rushing touchdown on the next play.

The rivalry between the two schools is one of the most storied in college football, but it has been one-sided in recent years with Ohio State winning eight consecutive meetings. The winner of the 2021 matchup will earn a spot in the Big Ten Championship and will be well-positioned to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.
