Early national signing day is upon us, and the Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to finish strong. They've recruited at a high rate under head coach Josh Heupel and brought in some major difference-makers in their 2023 signing class. Volunteer Country will provide readers with an in-depth breakdown of each signee.

Offensive guard William Satterwhite is the sixth commit to turn in their national letter of intent. He is the No. 216 player in the cycle, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Take a look at what the Vols are getting.

Prospect: William Satterwhite

Projected Position: Offensive Guard

Vitals: 6-3 and 300 pounds

School: Archbishop Hoban High School (Akron, Ohio)

Frame: Satterwhite's frame will likely force him to kick inside to guard when he reaches Knoxville. I envision him playing around 325 pounds, and adding that strength should be good for his game. Sometimes Satterwhite isn't as physical as he could be, especially considering his size. Putting on weight should help with his confidence and get him to strike with power - currently, he's primarily blocking with hand placement.

Athleticism: His athletic profile is outstanding, and Satterwhite routinely frames his blocks correctly. Few high schoolers can square their hips toward the sideline and seal off an alley for their running back. When you block in open space, many offensive linemen get holding calls for not getting around quickly enough. Satterwhite doesn't have this problem - he's quick enough to get around every time.

Instincts: He excels at getting depth in his pass sets, giving himself a frame to work with before striking the defender with his hands. Satterwhite punches the defender's shoulder pads and then quickly slaps away their hands at the point of contact. In Tennessee's system, he only has to survive that long before the football is out of his quarterback's hands. All of these movements are reaction-based, as Satterwhite has built counters on his high school tape for when defensive lineman recognize his immediate moves.

Polish: Ready-made technique that needs a little more raw power before seeing the field on Saturdays. Satterwhite is very detail-oriented and plays assignment-sound football, which should work well in this Tennessee run scheme.

Bottom Line: There's definitely a path to early snaps for Satterwhite. He has to put in a lot of work upon his initial arrival on Rocky Top, and Elarbee and the coaching staff were adamant all process that they believe in that potential.
