The Wisconsin football program has some glaring needs in the transfer portal, and with the losses of former Badgers Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell, wide receiver rose near the top of the list.

The Badgers added a transfer commitment from former Michigan State WR Tyrell Henry a few weeks ago, but the need for a boundary WR is still very present. UW will need to continue its search for a boundary receiver, as one of their portal targets, former James Madison WR Elijah Sarratt, has committed to Indiana.

Wisconsin Football Misses on Big-Time Transfer Portal WR Target

While it’s a bit disappointing to miss out on a wide receiver target like Sarratt, this move isn’t too surprising. Former James Madison head coach Curt Cignetti took over at Indiana following former HC Tom Allen’s termination. Now, the standout receiver will reunite with the coach who recruited him from the FCS.

Last season, the new Hoosiers receiver recorded 82 receptions for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards. With those marks, Sarratt received First-Team All-Sun Belt Honors.

Wisconsin will have Bryson Green, Will Pauling, CJ Williams, Vinny Anthony, and Trech Kekahuna as returning contributors next season while also bringing in true freshman Kyan Berry-Johnson and transfer WR Tyrell Henry. The wide receiver corps could use some more experienced bodies in there, as UW’s third and fourth leading receivers are no longer with the team. It will be interesting to see if the Wisconsin football staff keeps its foot on the gas in search of help at receiver.

As it stands, Wisconsin has added ten players through the portal and holds the No. 14 transfer class in the nation.
