Reality TV in the ‘80s and ‘90s wasn’t quite what it is today. Dating shows are nothing new. Love Connection and The Bachelor helped launch those types of shows into homes across the country, but VH1 took it a step further when they placed rapper and notable hype man Flavor Flav in a mansion with a bevy of women competing for his heart on Flavor of Love. It was an addicting, lawless time in television that most have to be grateful for because not only was it entertaining, but it led to a cascade of spinoffs, including the iconic I Love New York.
