Kristen Stewart responds to possibility of playing the Joker: 'Not the most stoked I've ever been'

Apparently people on the internet have been clamoring for Kristen Stewart to be cast as the Joker. Their voices were loud enough to carry to Variety's Clayton Davis, who asked Stewart if she ever would consider playing the Batman villain:

"I mean, I love the energy behind that," the 31-year-old actress responded. "Dude, it's really been done so well, you know? I feel like maybe we don't traipse over, but I mean, I love that gusto. Let's figure something else out, you know what I mean? I'm totally down to play a freaky, scary person."

So, that's a no, then?

"Well, not 'no,' but not the most stoked I've ever been," she clarified. "No, let's do something new."

The conversation was assuredly sparked by Robert Pattinson, Stewart's former Twilight costar and real-life ex-boyfriend, playing Batman/Bruce Wayne in the forthcoming The Batman film from Matt Reeves due March 4, 2022.

Stewart has arguably already landed her career's definitive role as the late Princess Diana in Pablo Larrain's Spencer, which is generating plenty of awards buzz ahead of its Nov. 5 release. Watch the trailer below.
