Lizzy Caplan to star in series based on 'Fatal Attraction' at Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus is reviving "Fatal Attraction," sort of.

According to Variety, the streamer has ordered a series adaptation of the 1987 thriller with Lizzy Caplan set to star.

"The series is described as a deep-dive reimagining of the film that will explore the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control. Caplan will star as Alex, who becomes obsessed with her lover after a brief affair. Glenn Close played Alex in the film version, earning herself an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination in the process. The role of Dan, played by Michael Douglas in the film, has yet to be cast."

"Fatal Attraction" was originally directed by Adrian Lyne with a screenplay written by James Dearden. The movie earned six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

Caplan has been known in recent years for television roles such as Virginia Johnson in "Masters of Sex" (2013-16), Annie Wilkes in "Castle Rock" ('19), Josie Buhrman/Lanie Buhrman in "Truth Be Told" ('19-'20) and Reagan Ridley in "Inside Job" ('21). The 39-year-old earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for her work as a lead actress in "Masters of Sex."
