Salma Hayek's pet owl had an interesting interaction with Harry Styles

Salma Hayek calls her rescue owl, Kering, her best friend.

Harry Styles is probably not as fond of Kering, though.

"He was really excited about the owl and was hoping that the owl would go on his head because it was on me," Hayek relayed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "And he's like, 'Oh, I need an owl in my life. How do you do that?' And the minute he least expected it, [Kering] came on his head, but then she did the thing, and this ball of rat hair was on his head."

Prior to revealing this specific anecdote, Hayek was lamenting when her owl—as does any owl—coughs up a hairball after eating a mouse or whatever the prey is for that particular feeding.

During the Ellen interview, Kering made a short cameo because she was busy eating a mouse. She briefly perched on Hayek's finger before flying to the sit on her laptop. "This is what happens when I'm watching television!" the Oscar-nominated actress noted.

People immortalized Hayek and Kering's best friendship in April:

There, the 54-year-old explained that she rescued Kering two years ago to give to her husband, François-Henri Pinault, for Valentine's Day—named after his French luxury company, no less—but he knew she had really gotten the owl for herself.

Back with DeGeneres, Hayek said she only has slumber parties with the owl when Pinault is out of town—"he won't have it"—and those often turn into Hayek trying to sleep while Kering flies around and sometimes mistakes Hayek's toes for mice.

Hayek was supposed to be on the daytime talk show to promote The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, but when you've got a pet owl as a real-life plot line, who needs an absurd crime comedy?

The Patrick Hughes-directed sequel will release tomorrow (June 16) and follow up 2017's The Hitman's Bodyguard with Hayek, Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds all reprising their roles.
