20 actors who have been in multiple billion-dollar movies

Johnny Depp has a proven track record of making films that earn the big bucks. Multiple installments from his Pirates of the Caribbean franchise have earned over a billion dollars, as did the live-action Alice in Wonderland film he made in the early 2010s. 

When Kate Winslet teams up with James Cameron, only good things happen. The first time they worked together, on Titanic, their film grossed over a billion dollars, and 25 years later when they reunited for Avatar: The Way of Water, their film crossed that same threshold. 

Another star to work with James Cameron on billion-dollar movies twice, Zoe Saldana was in both Avatar films. She’s slated to be in the next several, so hopefully, her previous and future contracts allow her to take home a share of the profits. 

Tapping Chris Pratt for your film almost guarantees that it’s going to be successful at the box office. The action and comedy star has been in several films that have earned a billion dollars, including Avengers: Infinity War, Jurassic World, and, most recently, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. 

Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a good career move. The films are nothing if not cash grabs. Scarlett Johansson became part of the MCU when she signed on as the Black Widow for Iron Man 2, and she’s reprised her role multiple times for films such as Avengers: End Game and Captain America: Civil War, both of which have earned over $1 billion dollars. 

All it takes to be in multiple films that earn over a billion dollars is getting a part in what will eventually become an incredibly successful, long-running film franchise. Dwayne Johnson did just that by joining the Fast & Furious franchise, and now, he’s been in multiple billion-dollar installments because of it.

Vin Diesel has had the same success with filmmaking as Dwayne Johnson, again thanks to the success of Fast & Furious . Not only have the films made loads of money, they’ve also garnered respect from some major film directors who’ve also met that financial goal, like Christopher Nolan. 

Never underestimate the power of a good Disney film or two. Kristen Bell made her way onto this list by lending her voice to both Frozen and Frozen II. If she were ever to reprise her role for a live-action version of the film, she could likely say she’s been in three billion-dollar films. 

It’s possible you were just waiting to get to Robert Downey Jr.’s name on this list. Of course, he’s been in multiple billion-dollar films. He’s Iron Man. His solo superhero films have gotten him on this list, as have his collaborations with the other Avengers. 

Who could’ve predicted that those little yellow henchmen would be so successful? The Minions took over the world in the 2010s, and both Minions and Despicable Me 3 crossed the billion-dollar mark in earnings, making Steve Carell part of this elite list. 

Another entry, another Marvel star. Tom Holland has become one of the most commercially successful men to play Spider-Man, with two of his installments earning over a billion dollars. Holland also meets this criteria for his work in the Avengers films. 

You guessed it. Gwyneth Paltrow is on this list for her involvement in the MCU. Despite not acting as a superhero, Paltrow has still been a major part of Marvel, playing Pepper Potts in multiple billion-dollar films for the comic book company. For someone who’s said she doesn’t really want to act, she’s sure been successful at it. 

Not everyone on this list has been in a Marvel movie. Orlando Bloom’s billion-dollar films have come by way of Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings. Bloom has remained pretty low-key over the past several years, so we’re assuming he racked up lots of residuals from his appearances in those highly successful films. 

Emma Watson took a page out of Orlando Bloom’s book by starring in a Disney film and the screen adaptations of a high-earning book series. Watson starred as Belle in the billion-dollar live-action version of Beauty and the Beast and reprised her role of Hermione one last time for the billion-dollar Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. 

It’s a little surprising more of Tom Hanks’ films haven’t grossed over a billion dollars. Nevertheless, he’s on this list for his work in Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4. If Hanks signs on for the upcoming Toy Story 5, perhaps he’ll join this list for a third time. 

Sigourney Weaver’s billion-dollar films include both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, but she was also in the billion-dollar film Finding Dory. Like Saldana, Weaver has signed on for three more Avatar installments, so she just might be in three more billion-dollar movies. 

Seeing Ralph Fiennes’ name on this list might surprise you, but it shouldn’t. The talented actor has been in loads of smash hits. His two films to have reached a billion dollars are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and the James Bond film Skyfall. 

Bryce Dallas Howard’s dad has two Oscars, but she’s done something Ron Howard hasn’t even come close to doing: star in two billion-dollar movies. Bryce made her way onto this list by starring in both Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. 

Chadwick Boseman had a huge acting career. His role T’Challa in Black Panther led him to be in four billion-dollar movies: Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. 

Josh Gad has made his musical abilities work for him. The actor snagged a role in the first Frozen film, which led to its reprisal in the sequel. He also had a part in the live-action Beauty and the Beast, and all three movies went on to earn over a billion dollars.
