The most likely Halloween costumes for 2023
Need some help figuring out a Halloween costume? Based on this year's blockbuster movies, popular TV series, and everything pop culture, here are the most likely Halloween costumes for 2023.
Barbie & Ken from 'Barbie'
Barbie and Ken are bound to be the most popular Halloween costumes this year for obvious reasons. From their matching rollerblading outfits to Ken's fur coat, these looks will surely bring down the "Mojo Dojo Casa House."
"Barbenheimer"
The opening weekend of Barbie and Oppenheimer was easily the most anticipated moment of the summer, thus earning itself the name "Barbenheimer." Audiences everywhere were showing up to the theater dressed as both Barbie and J. Robert Oppenheimer for a double feature, an idea that would make for the ultimate Halloween costume.
Taylor Swift from 'The Eras Tour'
Unless you've been living under a rock, "The Eras Tour" is basically all anyone has talked about this year besides "Barbenheimer." Save your sparkliest attire to recreate some of Taylor's iconic looks from the tour. The same goes for repurposing those outfits from Beyoncé's "Renaissance World Tour."
Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid'
Chances are Halle Bailey's Ariel, as well as any other character from this year's The Little Mermaid, will make an appearance at a Halloween party or two. This is a fairly easy costume choice, suitable for both kids and adults.
Ahsoka from 'Ahsoka'
With the Ahsoka miniseries having just premiered and running until early October on Disney+, Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka is sure to be a hit with Star Wars fans and non-Star Wars fans alike.
Mario & Luigi from 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'
Go as Mario and Luigi, or make it a group costume with Bowser, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Toad! As someone who went as Waluigi last year, Super Mario characters are classic costumes and will kill, especially this year, thanks to The Super Smash Bros. Movie.
Wednesday Addams from 'Wednesday'
Wednesday Addams is another classic go-to, and with the Netflix series Wednesday released after Halloween last year, it makes for a good opportunity to update to Jenna Ortega's version of the beloved character. This is fun with a friend, going as Wednesday and her roommate and polar opposite, Enid.
Miles Morales/Spider-Man from 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse'
Spider-Man is always a fun one, but Miles Morales' suit is probably the coolest of them all. With the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, this costume is a great choice. Make it a couple's costume with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman!
Ariana Grande & "SpongeBob"
Everyone loves a good pop culture reference, right? Whether you're dressed literally in a SpongeBob costume or as Ethan Slater in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, everyone will get a kick out of this hilarious couple's costume.
Daisy & Billy from 'Daisy Jones & The Six'
I imagine Daisy and Billy of Daisy Jones & The Six will be popular choices due to the show's popularity. Of course, there's always the chance that someone just decided to dress as someone from the '70s.
"The Death of Twitter"
This is an awesome opportunity to get creative with "the death of Twitter." I'm thinking people dressed as the Twitter bird with Xs for eyes and/or a gravestone, or maybe even a few people recreating this meme. Go nuts.
M3GAN from 'M3GAN'
M3GAN is relevant and a little spooky, making it a great Halloween costume. The only rule is that you have to do her weird dance so people get the full effect.
Hailey & Justin Bieber
Going for funny? Go as Hailey and Justin Bieber on their Krispy Kreme run in Manhattan. A low-effort look on his part, and you look fabulous, as always.
Carmy from 'The Bear'
Jeremy Allen White's Carmy is a super easy costume to pull off and one that fans of The Bear will immediately recognize. Bonus points if you can convince your friends to go as Sydney, Richie, and the rest of the gang.
DJ Crazy Times & Ms. Biljana Electronica from "Planet of the Bass"
This is it: the perfect costume. Show up as DJ Crazy Times and Ms. Biljana Electronica of the viral "Planet of the Bass" song. The only thing that could possibly make it better is having two other girls as Biljana's replacements.
