There are a few things people can always count on Twitter for — whether earthquakes happened in California, pictures of pets, and fan castings. The latest movie to be tossed into the latter is Knives Out 3 . After Rian Johnson confirmed a third installment of his stylized detective series starring Daniel Craig was on the way, fans took to the social media platform to tweet who they thought should be in the running for a coveted role. Some were obvious, some weren’t, and some fabulous actors were MIA. So after filling in some gaps, these are the actors fans want in Knives Out 3.
Aurore Marechal/Abaca/Sipa USA
Known for his portrayal of the younger Professor X in the X-Men series and his amazing performance in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, it’s shocking to many that James McAvoy wasn’t in the first two films.

Stephanie Hsu blew audiences away as the daughter who just wanted her mother to hear her in Everything Everywhere All At Once, but Rian Johnson better act fast if he wants this rising star because since then, she's been quite busy with the Disney+ series, American Born Chinese, as well as the comedy Joy Ride.
Efren Landaos/Sipa USA
Anyone who has seen Oscar Isaac knows that he should be in every single movie ever made from now until the end of time.

Michaela Jaé Rodriguez
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
Those in the know are well aware of the talent Michaela Jaé Rodriguez exudes when put on screen. It won her the Golden Globe in 2022 for her role on FX’s Pose. Now it’s time for Rian Johnson to put her talent into Knives Out 3.

At this point, Chris Hemsworth has proved he can do more than just wield Thor’s hammer. It would be fun to see him step into a realm on the same level as 2018’s Bad Times at the El Royale.

The world that Rian Johnson has created in the Knives Out series has a certain level of finesse and style, and if that’s not Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso, then who is it?
Juan Pablo Rico/Sipa USA
Colman Domingo got stabbed in Fear the Walking Dead and relayed that information so eloquently that, at that moment, it was clear he was meant for a role in which a detective tries and solve the murder of some sort of eccentric rich person.

Poorna Jagannathan
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
Poorna Jagannathan captivated Bollywood in 2011’s Delhi Belly before starring in the critically acclaimed HBO miniseries The Night Of as the mother of a man accused of murder. She then stepped into another motherly role, this time with less murder, in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever. She’s a master of many genres, so put her in Coach Johnson!
Nasser Berzane/Abaca/Sipa USA
The Boys actor has blown audiences away as the villainous Homelander, but fans are interested in seeing him take on a role that is a little more...human.
Scott Kirkland/FX/PictureGroup
Jessica Lange has been a queen of cinema since the '70s but got introduced to a whole new generation in 2011 when she became one of Ryan Murphy's go-to actors in American Horror Story. She starred in four seasons and appeared in one more, but all of that said, fans are dying to see what she would do as the HBIC in anything Rian Johnson does next with this series.
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
Ever since starring in Jordan Peele’s Get Out, Daniel Kaluuya has been on everyone’s must-have list, and he’s continued to mesmerize audiences in movies like Judas and the Black Messiah, Black Panther, and Queen & Slim. Now it’s time for him to add yet another stunning performance to his growing resume.

Jennifer Coolidge

An obvious choice for anything for anyone aware of pop culture since Jennifer Coolidge’s award-winning, must-see performance in The White Lotus.
Lionel Hahn/Abaca/Sipa USA
Macaulay Culkin took a significant and well-deserved break after owning the first few years of the ‘90s. Years later, he made some interesting choices doing Saved! and Party Monster, and most recently, was immaculate in American Horror Story: Double Feature. So it’s no wonder fans have been yearning for Culkin to do even more.

It didn’t take long for Janelle James to be one of the most talked about characters in the 2020s, thanks to her role as Principal Coleman in Abbott Elementary, and for good reason. She’s a comedic gem, and fans want to see her shine on the big screen sooner than later.
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
A scene stealer in Netflix’s Sex Education, Ncuti Gatwa had to walk away from that show in order to star as the lead in the next iteration of Doctor Who. Gatwa is also one of the many, many Kens in 2023’s Barbie. So it’s safe to say even if they wanted to cast Ncuti Gatwa in the next Knives Out, he may just be a bit too busy!
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
Feels kind of criminal not to have a multiple award-winner like Ozark’s Julie Garner in the cast.

Anthony Carrigan

Barry has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 2018, and after wrapping up in 2023, fans are rabid to see more from Anthony Carrigan.
Anthony Behar/Sipa USA
Another widely requested candidate for this movie is none other than Keke Palmer. Anyone who’s anyone knows that it’s impossible for Keke Palmer to do wrong.
Dominic Chan/Sipa USA
There is a gaggle of House fans that just want to see Hugh Laurie back in action. Perhaps in a role that takes on Daniel Craig’s detective skills?
Sthanlee B. Mirador/Sipa USA
The comedic timing of Josie Totah at such a young age is impeccable. Those who are questioning this casting, check out Totah on the 2020 reboot of Saved by the Bell.

A lot of fans are wishing on every star that Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o is the first name announced for Knives Out 3.
Disney Enterprises, Inc.
Anytime a movie needs a cast, The Muppets are near the top of the most requested, which is understandable. Who wouldn’t want a mystery movie with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and all the rest at the center of it all?
