Lewis Hamilton‘s news of switching to Ferrari in 2025 came as a huge shock to the sporting world. This is potentially the biggest news of 2024 so far. Hamilton joined the sport in 2007 and has raced for only McLaren and Mercedes since. However, amidst this shocking news, former Ferrari driver Felipe Massa shared his piece of mind over the status quo.

Notably, Massa has been attempting to overturn the 2008 championship results where the Briton emerged victorious in the last moments of the season. The Brazilian driver lodged a legal case regarding the same against Formula 1 last year. Regardless, the Brazilian took to Instagram to share his take on the seven-time world champion moving to Maranello.

Massa shared an image of Lewis Hamilton donning the Ferrari racing suit and the image is captioned about the Briton’s switch to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025. Additionally, the 42-year-old attached a sticker indicating a Thumbs up with the caption “Cool” next to it. This reaction might be sarcastic instead of genuine excitement over the shocking news keeping in mind the poor history between the two drivers.

Lewis Hamilton has a contract with Mercedes till 2025

Lewis Hamilton signed an extension with Mercedes till at least 2025. However, would be running out of time by that point at the age of 41. Additionally, Hamilton hasn’t been able to emerge victorious in a race for the past two F1 seasons.

Ferrari might be the team that could finally provide the 103-time race winner with an opportunity to win a race. However, things could change in the upcoming F1 season. Mercedes might get ahead of Ferrari in the pecking order this season. Regardless, Hamilton might be the one driver who could help Ferrari win the world championship after almost 18 years, assuming Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz fail to win the title this year.

Hence, the shift from the 39-year-old to Ferrari in 2025 could be immensely exciting for the fans and drivers. Maranello has some great benefits that would definitely be useful for the former world champion to return to his winning ways. Regardless, Lewis Hamilton will be focusing on the 2024 season with Mercedes for now.
