New Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May was introduced on Tuesday and he made a really positive impression. Wolverine fans who weren’t behind the hire, are throwing their support behind May.

I think it’s the John Beilein effect. Beilein played a key role in making May the top target of the Michigan baskeball coaching search. He also took part in the interview with Marde Manuel to ease any of May’s concerns.

Beilein wants Michigan baskeball to win. He also said he’s available to help anytime May needs. It seems like he could have a role in the program, but first things first, May needs to start adding players.

The latest on former FAU players coming to Michigan basketball

Adding former All-Conference standouts from Florida Atlantic would be a good place to start. While we learned that might not be a slam dunk this week, depending on who the Owls hire to replace May, that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

There are three players Michigan basketball fans are keeping an eye on: Johnell Davis, Vladislav Golden, and Alijah Martin. May was asked about his former players following him on Tuesday but he said those conversations would come later.

As of now, those three players haven’t entered the transfer portal. Until that happens, it’s a moot point. Yet, Marin and Davis shared photos of May at his Michigan basketball press conference on their Instagram pages.

They each have one year of eligibility remaining and would be huge assets for rebuilding Michigan basketball quickly. Add all three or even two of three, and suddenly, making the NCAA tournament next season doesn’t feel like a pipe dream.
