It sounds like Anthony Mackie hasn’t learned his lesson when it comes to challenging All Elite Wrestling‘s Samoa Joe.

Ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Samoa Joe and Anthony Mackie spoke to NBC Insider regarding the upcoming release of the Twisted Metal series on Peacock. When Joe was asked how it felt to beat up Captain America, Joe said it was an incredible feeling that gave him a lot of street cred with his kids.

“It’s incredible. It is really an incredible feeling,” Samoa Joe said. “[It netted me] a lot of street cred with the kids. Really good around the neighborhood. Nobody’s side-eyeing [me] anymore when I walk around the block and stuff. So it’s a lot of fun, man. It worked out really well for me.”

Round 2

Despite taking a pounding in season one, Anthony Mackie told NBC Insider that he’d love to have a rematch with The Samoan Submission Machine if Twisted Metal gets picked up for a second season, insisting that he wouldn’t lose again.

While Mackie might want a rematch with Joe, he had a lot of praise for the Ring of Honor World Television Champion.

“Once he stepped on the set, the show kind of came together. Just seeing him in that ice cream truck was the eeriest experience,” Anthony Mackie said. “We go through the Vegas sign right there, and he’s driving from about 300 yards away, and all you see is the clown head across the dunes. You don’t even see the truck, you just see the clown head, and it was the eeriest day on set seeing him come out of that truck and beat the sh** out of both of us.”

When he was told that Mackie wanted a rematch, Joe joked that people hope and wish for many things.

“You know, we all want a lot of things in this world,” Samoa Joe said. “We all hope and wish for a lot of things, but I don’t know, man. We’ll see how he fares.”

All ten episodes of Twisted Metal will be released on Peacock on July 27.
