The MLB Playoffs is where good players have gone on to be considered great, where great players have become stars and where stars have become legends.

That was the case for David Ortiz during his time with the Boston Red Sox.

He's one of the most dominant playoff performers of all time and has some of the most iconic moments in history.

His smooth left handed swing and powerful bat have etched themselves into baseball fans' brains for eternity.

Houston Astros' superstar Yordan Alvarez is on his way to doing the same thing.

Through 55 career playoff games, the lefty slugger has a career slash line of .277/.378/.544 with 12 home runs and 39 RBI.

He's become an imposing figure in the batters box and a clutch performer in the most important moments of a game.

Just like Ortiz was.

That's why the baseball legend gave Alvarez the nickname "Baby Papi" playing on the words of his own nickname "Big Papi."

The Astros' star joined the postgame crew on Fox after Houston's win in Game 3.

That's when Ortiz gave Alvarez the nickname and said that it's almost like looking in the mirror when he sees him play.

If the Astros get the same level of production from their slugger that Ortiz provided throughout his career, they'll be competing for World Series titles for years to come.

Ortiz was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2022 after winning three World Series titles with the Red Sox.

It's still too early to make that declaration about Alvarez, but he's well on his way to having the same type of career if he's able to continue the output that he's put forth so far.
