The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a messy win over the Carolina Panthers and will be thrown straight back into the deep end on Thursday when they face the reigning Super Bowl Champions. Unfortunately, they will be doing so without Dallas Goedert.

The SDSU product has been placed on the COVID reserve list today according to an official announcement from the team. This now makes yesterday’s decision to bring in former Eagles TE Noah Togiai that much more understandable.

Goedert was listed on yesterday’s injury report as absent with an illness. He’s coming off of a game where he had a pair of catches for 28 yards in 45 offensive snaps.

It’s been a quiet start to the season for Dallas Goedert, but prior to Sunday’s win, he had started to find his form. With 50+ yards in both of the games before that win over Carolina, the 6’5 tight end has 216 Yards and a pair of touchowns on the season.

Losing him is a pretty big blow, but it’s not as if the Eagles are predicating their offense around tight end receiving production anymore. They instead run a lot of 11-personnel and want their big bodies to contribute in the run game. UDFA Jack Stoll is still on the active roster and will likely fill the boots of Goedert for the time being, while Togiai will serve as an emergency depth option.
