The Philadelphia Eagles will no longer be hosting Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice's son and USC standout, Brenden Rice.

According to Andrew DiCecco of Inside the Birds, Rice was scheduled to meet with the Eagles sometime this week but the visit has been called off.

This could mean nothing at all and be simply that the Eagles met with Rice at other pre-draft events and have what they need.

However, given the Eagles' track record of drafting players that they host, it's an odd look to call off a top-30 visit with Rice -- if that's the case of course.

Rice is a highly-touted project Day 2 or early Day 3 pick who spent two years at Colorado before transferring to Southern California in 2022.

As project No. 1 overall quarterback Caleb Williams' top target last fall, Rice reeled in 45 catches for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.

To make his case even stronger, Rice put on a solid NFL Combine performance in February as he ran an official 40-yard dash time of 4.5 seconds, a broad jump of nine feet, 11 inches, a vertical jump of 36.5 inches, and had 13 reps of 225 on bench press.

Sure, the Eagles have their top wide receivers in DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. They also added DeVonte Parker and Parris Campbell in NFL free agency, but Rice would be a solid later-round option as the Eagles plan for the future at the position.
