This offseason has been filled with changes for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from a coaching change to moves to the roster. One person who will not be making a change from 2023 is wide receiver Terry Godwin II.

The Tiger-Cats signed Godwin to a contract extension on Tuesday to keep one of their star receivers.

Godwin was the second leading receiver on the team in receptions (68) and yards (864) last season, while adding five scores which was the fifth most in the CFL. In 2022, his first year with the Tiger-Cats, he had six receptions for 107 yards in just two games.

Before the CFL, Godwin played in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. He posted three receptions for 32 yards in his NFL career from 2019-22. The Panthers selected Godwin as their seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

It’s a big move for the Tiger-Cats, as they get one of their best receivers on the roster back. There are still questions regarding his fellow wide receiver Tim White, who is officially a free agent Tuesday after being the team’s leader in receiving in 2023. Regardless of what White does in free agency, the Tiger-Cats are comfortable knowing they will at least have one of their top receivers back.

Free agency for the CFL officially kicked off on Tuesday with players not under contract having the chance to sign agreements with any team.
