Michigan running back Blake Corum was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 83 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Corum played four seasons at Michigan, setting a career high in touchdowns (23) in 2023 to help the Wolverines win a national title. He finished his career with 675 carries, 3,737 yards, 58 touchdowns, 5.5 yards per carry, 56 catches, 411 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions.

Corum suffered a season ending injury near the end of 2022 but opted to return for one last playoff push this past fall. It paid off as he took the lead back role once again and made history in an undefeated season.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Corum was a four-star recruit out of Laurel (M.D.) St. Frances Academy, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 6 overall prospect in the state, the No. 11 running back in the class and the No. 117 overall prospect in the class.

What draft analysts are saying about Blake Corum

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote about Corum after watching the tape to see where he fits in as an NFL prospect. He didn’t have a current NFL comp, but Zierlein projected Corum as a third round pick.

“Compact runner with average size, outstanding contact balance and a rare talent for finding and fitting into small crevices for short-yardage conversions and touchdowns,” Zierlein wrote. “Corum is a bit of a one-speed runner lacking sizzle and wiggle but gets it downhill with timing and finishes runs with good forward lean. He has the hard-hat mentality to handle heavy workloads and can exploit defenses that fatigue or miss their run fits.

“The talent doesn’t stand out on its own, but he’s strong, competitive and team-oriented with exceptional football character. He can catch it when needed and is above average in picking up the blitz, which could earn him status as a three-down backup with a chance to find early carries as an RB2/3.”
