Villanova basketball gets another talented recruit for their 2024 class in Malcolm Thomas. The article below speaks about Thomas’ commitment and the skills he will bring to the Wildcats next season.

Malcolm Thomas Commits to Villanova

The Commitment

Thomas is another DMV recruit for the Wildcats. He joins recent DMV players like Justin Moore, Brandon Slater, and Eric Dixon. Villanova recruits heavily from this area and continues to bring in talented players with Thomas. Thomas explained that he felt close to home with players like Moore being at Villanova, but his relationship with the coach mattered even more. Malcolm described that his relationship with the coaching staff made him feel wanted. He told VU hoops that, “I’ve built an amazing relationship with them, and I see myself fitting perfectly in Coach Neptune’s scheme”. Furthermore, an important part of choosing a school is feeling that there is an actual fit. Malcolm’s relationship with Kyle Neptune is a positive sign for the Wildcats’ future.

Thomas’ Skillset

If there is one word to describe Malcolm Thomas’s game, it is explosive. He is an incredible athlete, who crashes the glass well and is active on lobs, and rolling to the rim. Furthermore, he excels in help-defense situations. His athleticism allows him to track down shots and make plays that few guys can.

In terms of fit, Thomas has a chance to be a versatile forward for the Wildcats. On the offensive end, if his handle and shot improve, he can transition more into a wing player based on his wiry frame. However, his versatility on defense makes him a fit right away. Malcolm’s athleticism leads to being able to guard multiple positions and be a major shot-blocking presence. Defense is usually an easy way to get on the court. Therefore, Malcolm’s ability on defense gives him a chance to play right away.

The Last Word on Malcolm Thomas

Malcolm Thomas is an excellent get for Villanova. Furthermore, his work ethic, optimistic attitude, and incredible athleticism allow for a potentially excellent player in 2024-2025. Let’s hope that Neptune keeps up his recruiting momentum.
