In a clash for the ages, the Kentucky men’s soccer team is set to take on Xavier in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. The game will be held at Corcoran Field on Thursday at 7 p.m. EST. Head coach Johan Cedergren will be leading the Wildcats in their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance under his guidance and the program’s 14th appearance overall.

The Wildcats head into this match after suffering a defeat to Marshall in the semifinal round of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament. On the other hand, the Musketeers secured their first-ever Big East Conference Tournament title by defeating Georgetown in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. Both teams are hungry for success and will be looking to make a statement in this tournament.

Kentucky and Xavier have a long-standing history, with the Wildcats holding a slight advantage in the all-time series record at 8-5-3. The last time these two teams faced off was in 2020, where Kentucky emerged victorious with a 2-1 (OT) win.
