The Philadelphia Eagles selected 10 new players in the 2025 NFL Draft, though not all are expected to make the final 53-man roster, and it's even more uncommon for a rookie to earn a lot of reps or a starting job.
However, one name worth watching is defensive tackle Ty Robinson, Philly's fourth-round pick out of Nebraska.
That's because Robinson is already impressing this early into the offseason.
NBC Sports' Reuben Frank shared his takeaways from the Eagles' rookie minicamp, noting that the Cornhuskers standout has a legitimate chance to make an impact in his rookie season:
Another defensive rookie with a real chance at significant playing time this year is Ty Robinson, the 4th-round defensive tackle from Nebraska. With Milton Williams gone, that’s 31 snaps per game the Eagles have to fill. You can’t get any more from Jalen Carter, who played the 2nd-most snaps per game of any interior lineman in the league last year. You’d hope Jordan Davis can increase from 21 per game to somewhere around 28 to 30, and you’d expect a decent jump also from Moro Ojomo, who averaged 23 per game. That still leaves somewhere between 10 to 15 snaps per game, and that could be a perfect role for Robinson. Because Robinson is older – he turned 24 on Saturday – and played six seasons at Nebraska you’d expect the transition to the NFL to be a quick one. It has to be. You can’t have a guy who’s 24 as a developmental project. But Robinson has a lot going for him – quick, strong, powerful, fast – and there’s reason to believe he can contribute in a small but significant role right away.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 310 pounds, Robinson wrapped up an impressive 2024 final season with the Cornhuskers, starting all 13 games and setting career highs with 37 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks. He also added four pass breakups, a blocked field goal, and a safety, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors along the way.
Robinson's addition gives Philadelphia a valuable boost on the defensive line, helping fill the void left by Milton Williams' departure in free agency. But his impact might not stop there; if the Eagles want to get creative, he could also contribute as a red-zone weapon like he was at Nebraska.
Time will tell during OTAs and training camp as to what the Eagles have in store for their 4th round pick, but for now, Robinson appears to be trending in the right direction.
