Report: Kevin Durant buys stake in MLS' Philadelphia Union

Brooklyn Nets superstar and two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant may one day own a franchise in the Association.

Perhaps he'll also be a Major League Soccer club owner at that same time.

On Thursday, Mark J. Burns of Sports Business Daily reported that Durant has bought a stake between one percent and five percent in the Philadelphia Union. Both parties involved in the agreement declined to comment.

The 2020 MLS regular season was halted after two matchdays because of the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this week, MLS owners and the MLS Players Association amended the collective bargaining agreement to plan for a tournament at Orlando's Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

Teams may convene in Orlando on or around June 24.

Durant has yet to feature for the Nets since suffering a ruptured right Achilles in his last appearance as a member of the Golden State Warriors during the 2019 NBA Finals. It's not yet known if he'll make his Brooklyn debut during the 22-team format to finish the 2019-20 regular season that was suspended on March 11 because of the virus outbreak.
