The Duke Blue Devils swept the North Carolina Tar Heels in Durham over the weekend, and have now earned the program's first No. 1 ranking by SoftballAmerica. The Blue Devils captured program win No. 100 in their 6-4 win in game one of the series. Jala Wright pitched 5 2/3 innings, recorded her 350th career strikeout, and gave up just 2 earned runs while Claire Davidson went 2-3 with a homer and 2 RBI in the win. Duke run-ruled Carolina in game two of the series with an 8-0 win behind the left arm of pitcher Cassidy Curd. Curd struck out 12 batters and the Heels only had three batters reach base in the game. The Blue Devils began the game with 6 runs in the first inning behind the senior trio of Kelly Torres (RBI HBP), Francesca Frelick (2-RBI 2B) and Sarah Goddard (3-run HR), and Curd took over from there. The Blue Devils got three home runs, including two from Claire Davidson as they completed the sweep with a 6-1 win. Duke is now 20-0 at home and have swept three of their first five ACC Series.
