After hosting 2025 LB Elliott Schaper on a recruiting visit, the Wisconsin football program looks to be in a prime position for a commitment.

247Sports expert Nick Osen cast a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Badgers to land the Texas native.

Schaper stopped by for Wisconsin’s spring practice on Saturday and picked up an offer during his visit.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker now holds 12 offers with other programs, including Duke, Cal, Arizona State, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, and Rice, among others, extending scholarships.

In his junior season at Westlake High School, Schaper recorded 108 tackles, 13.0 TFLs, nine sacks, nine hurries, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, according to MaxPreps. With those marks, he was named the District 26 6-A Defensive MVP and the 2023 All-Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year.

Schaper shines in his junior highlight reel with his ability to get downhill and blow up plays in the backfield before they develop. He’s a game wrecker whose length and size give him an edge over other players at his level.

Schaper has taken snaps at both middle and outside linebacker. While he projects more as an inside linebacker, he has some versatility that could help him thrive in Mike Tressel’s system. UW currently holds a commitment from inside linebacker Cooper Catalano, and the Badgers are searching for another body to pair with the in-state standout.

Schaper currently has visits set with Duke and Cal for the first two weekends in June. This recruitment will be worth keeping an eye on as the Badgers look to land their eighth commitment in the 2025 cycle.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program holds the No. 21 recruiting class in the country, according to the composite rankings.
