Like many up-and-coming golf talents in recent years, Ludvig Aberg has made a change to his bag in favor of a more experienced and accomplished caddie. Aberg has made the difficult decision to part ways with Jack Clarke following the Grant Thornton Invitational while naming Joe Skovron as his replacement.

Clarke, a former professional golfer who turned to caddying only a few years ago, looped for Aberg during his wins at the DP World Tour's European Masters and the PGA Tour's RSM Classic. He was also with Aberg during the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.

Skovron is best known for spending 13 seasons looping for Rickie Fowler before their tenure ended in August 2022. One month later, Skovron joined forces with young star Tom Kim at the 2022 Presidents Cup, and the duo went on to win the Shriners Children's Open in 2022 and 2023. Skovron has also caddied in over 50 major championships.

The decision to pair a veteran caddie alongside a young talent has become more common on the PGA Tour — Cameron Young and Scottie Scheffler are two other notable players who made similar caddie changes at the start of their careers. Young brought in Paul Tesori, a long-time caddie for Webb Simpson, back in March to help prepare for major championships. Following a spectacular rookie season, Scheffler linked up with decorated caddie Ted Scott, who was previously on the bag for Bubba Watson for 15 years.

Aberg, a finalist for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, jumped up from 3,064th to 32nd in the Official World Golf Ranking after earning two victories in his first 14 professional starts. The former Texas Tech standout also became the first golfer to play in a Ryder Cup before a major championship. If he isn't already, Aberg is sure to become a household name in the not-so-distant future.

Skovron will look to help Aberg live up to the lofty expectations set for his first full season on the PGA Tour.
