PGA Tour records no positive COVID-19 tests for second straight week

The PGA Tour continues to hit them long and straight as it pertains to the organization's coronavirus testing.

As ESPN's Bob Harig wrote, the Tour went a second consecutive week with zero positive COVID-19 tests among players, caddies and other personnel. In total, Wednesday's update accounts for 954 on-site negative tests conducted by the PGA since early last week.

Concerns about the accuracy of tests mean results can't rule out that somebody on the course is nevertheless carrying the virus. Earlier this month, UFC middleweight Ian Heinisch nearly lost the right to compete at UFC 250 after a coach delivered what was later ruled a "false positive."

Nevertheless, the news suggests this weekend's RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head will go off without any complications.

Most onlookers viewed last weekend's Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, as a success for the Tour. Daniel Berger defeated Collin Morikawa in a playoff to win the tournament.

The RBC Heritage will occur without Tiger Woods, though, who isn't yet making his return to competitive play amid the pandemic.
